Blue Cookie Monster Rice Krispie Treats Recipe
Cookie Monster is a Sesame Street favorite that kids all over the world absolutely love!
A few years ago my kids discovered Cookie Monster ice cream, which was blue and filled with crumbled cookies.
That delicious ice cream inspired these adorable cookie monster rice krispie treats.
The addition of crumbled cookies and white chocolate chips inside a blue rice crispy treat is pure magic!
This no-bake treat is perfect for a quick and easy dessert or after-school snack that kids (and adults) will love.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Equipment:
- 9×11 Pan
- Medium Saucepan/Pot
- Large Bowl
Ingredients:
- 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter
- 10-ounce bag of jumbo marshmallows
- ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- Blue food coloring
- 6 cups of rice crispy cereal
- ¾ cup white chocolate chips
- 10 Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookies, crumbled
- 10 Oreos, crumbled
Directions:
1. In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat.
2. Add your marshmallows to the pan or pot and melt them while stirring. At first, the marshmallows will look like they aren’t mixing with the butter, but after about 3-5 minutes, they will.
3. Add the sweetened condensed milk to the melted marshmallow mixture and stir until combined.
4. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla and blue food dye. Add as many drops as you need until you get to your desired shade of blue.
5. In a large bowl, pour this mixture on top of the rice krispy cereal and mix until all of them are entirely coated.
6. Add ½ cup of the white chocolate chips, ¾ths of the crumbled chocolate chip cookies, and ¾ths of the crumbled Oreos to the rice krispies, then stir together, leaving 1/4th of each to top the treats with later.
7. Coat the 9×11 inch pan with butter, nonstick spray, or place parchment paper inside to prevent the rice krispy treats from sticking.
8. Pour the rice krispie mixture into the pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle the rest of the chocolate chip cookies, Oreos, and white chocolate chips on top of the pan and gently press into the rice krispies.
9. Allow to cool to room temperature, then cut and enjoy!
Can be stored in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
