Fun Games to Play Over Facetime
As a teacher and mom, this topic is near and dear to my heart.
Right now, our school is closed.
I am missing my students, and my children are missing their friends.
Thankfully, we have been getting creative and using different video chat platforms like Zoom, Facetime, Skype and Messenger to reach out to friends and family and stay connected.
While video chatting is fine, the most important thing for kids to do is PLAY!
Below you will find a list of games and activities that are simple and easy for kids to play on Zoom (or Google Meet….or whatever you want to use).
These games are also perfect for virtual birthday parties when kids can’t get together with their friends.
The Best Games for Kids to Play on Zoom
Heads Up!
This is the game that inspired this post.
My 7 year old son played this with his friends on Zoom the other day and had a blast.
You need a second device in addition to what you are using to video chat and you also need the app.
There is also a Heads Up! Kids version of the app that is available that uses pictures instead of words, which is great for younger kids.
Charades
Charades is a classic game that is super easy to modify to work via video chat.
Each player comes up with a list of words or phrases to act out, then you take turns trying to guess.
Easy, fun and entertaining!
20 Questions
The object of the game is simple and so easy for kids to get the hang of.
Player 1 thinks of a person, place or object.
Player 2 then gets to ask 20 yes or no questions to try to guess what it is.
If they are successful, they get a point. The first person to 10 wins!
Indoor Scavenger Hunt
Indoor scavenger hunts are a great boredom buster and indoor activity for kids on rainy days. It’s a great way to burn off energy while hunting around the house for items on the list.
They also work perfectly as a virtual game to play with kids.
Players can earn points by being the first person to bring back and show each individual item, or see who can find the most items on the list in the shortest amount of time.
Create your own list or make up your own rules for endless fun.
Two Truths and a Lie
Standard rules for this one.
Each player takes a turn sharing two statements about themselves that are true, along with one that is a fib.
The opponents goal is to correctly guess which statement was a lie.
The play can continue to go back and forth until the players run out of ideas.
A great way to learn more about friends and family.
