Pizza Muffin FAQ’s

What special considerations are needed when making this recipe?

-When rolling the dough into balls, do not overwork it; roll just enough to get the ball shape. Some pieces may not completely cover the cheese, and that is ok.

-When mixing the ingredients with the balls, be sure not to mix too hard. The dough balls are somewhat fragile, and mixing quickly could cause them to break open.

Can I use more sauce or condiments?

Yes! This recipe is very customizable. Be aware when adding more sauce to add just a small amount so that the dough will still cook correctly. Toppings can be added or omitted depending on what pizza toppings you enjoy.

I broke the biscuit dough spreading it out; what do I do?

No worries, you can gently press the dough back together. As you spread the dough, it will take a few gentle pulls to get it to the right shape. Pull gently and then move your fingers back towards the center to again pull gently outward from the middle. This should help the dough not break as easily.

Can I make these ahead of time?

These could be made a few hours before you are ready to cook them and stored in the refrigerator but are best when made and cooked immediately.

How can I store extras?

These can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for 3-4 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.

Can I freeze these?

Sorry, freezing these is not recommended.

What are these called?

In our house, we call them pizza muffins, but I’ve also seen them called pizza cupcakes, mini pizza muffins, mini pizza bites, and cheesy pizza muffins.

Can I modify this pizza muffins recipe?

Absolutely! I encourage you to experiment and try adding or removing ingredients depending on what your family likes. A few ideas you might want to try are green peppers, red pepper flakes, sausage, and everything bagel seasoning.
