The Ultimate Guide to Family Dinner Ideas
Let’s be honest…
Trying to figure out what to have for dinner at the end of the day is awful!
When everyone is tired and hungry (including you) it’s really hard to figure out what you should make.
Growing up, my mom would go to the grocery store almost every single day because she would wait until we decided what we wanted to have for dinner and then she would go buy the ingredients.
That was absolute insanity if you ask me, but it worked for her.
As a busy, working mom there is no way that I have time to run to the store every night before dinner.
Instead, I like to meal plan so I know a week or two ahead of time what we will be having for dinner each night.
Meal planning saves so much time and money and prevents us from wasting a ton of food.
Even though meal planning is helpful, you still have to have ideas for what to make for dinner in order to create your meal plan.
That is where this handy-dandy list comes in!
Below you will find almost 100 ideas for quick and easy meals to make for dinner.

Make-Ahead Meals
Maybe you can’t always find recipes that are fast, but you can always try cooking when you have the time. Busy weeknights might be rough for preparing a fresh meal, but many meals can be prepared ahead of time for a homecooked meal that you don’t actually have to cook!
Casseroles, slow-cooked meat, soups, and more can all be prepped days in advance and then warmed for an effortless and satisfying dinner. You can even prepare something weeks in advance and then freeze them! Make ahead meals are one of my favorite tricks to save a lot of time in the kitchen.
Conclusion
Having a stock of solid recipes is essential. You can meal plan when you have recipes to choose from and give your family options. It is also great because you know what ingredients you need to keep on hand. You will save money when you know exactly what to buy!
Besides being great for organization, having some meals in your back pocket is good for you! Unless you are a chef, devising new things to cook requires a lot of thinking and trials, and your family probably does not want to eat the same thing all the time. Common family dinners give you some great bases to which you can add your own flavors and twists!
Common family dinners are also common for a reason! Feeding a family is hard, so trying something tried and true could be what both you and your family need for a great evening meal together. You want to spend time enjoying life with your family rather than pulling your hair out in front of the fridge, so use the knowledge of others!
