Stockings are such a magical part of Christmas. They are like the yummy appetizer before a delicious meal. It is so fun to discover the tiny treats and miniature gifts inside. Have you ever filled the stockings with random junk in order to cross another task off your holiday to-do list? Me too, but this year I am being more conscientious and carefully selecting clutter-free stocking stuffers.
Clutter-Free Stocking Stuffers that Aren’t a Waste of Money
As a practical minimalist, I cringe at the idea of traditional stocking stuffers.
For many of us (especially busy moms) stocking stuffers are a last minute Hail Mary in the hours leading up to Christmas. This makes for bad decisions; mostly in the form of cheap junk that is neither wanted nor needed.
I agree that in the wee morning hours of Christmas Day those Dollar Store crayons and Holiday Pez dispensers will suffice. However, the excitement of the morning makes almost everything seem magical – even wasteful, plastic junk.
Where traditional stocking stuffers fall short is that by the time Christmas dinner on the table they have already been:
- Broken or forgotten
- Strewn about the house making a mess
- Chalked up to a complete waste of money
Thankfully, if you are reading this you are planning ahead and will be able to avoid that situation by choosing some of these clutter-free stocking stuffer ideas instead.
