Our wedding day 10 years ago!

This month we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary! Well, we haven’t actually celebrated yet. You see,  our wedding date was very close to the 4th ofJuly weekend. When we started to look for hotels for a romantic weekend getaway we realized everything was booked and the prices were insanely high due to the law of supply and demand. Instead we opted to start putting up dry wall in our unfinished garage and decided to delay our romantic weekend until we could get a banging deal on a hotel room. I guess you could consider hanging drywall a wellness challenge! Ha!

I know that many of you, much like our friends and family, are thinking. “Awe, come on – it’s your 10 year anniversary! You’ve earned it! Just go have a good time and stop thinking about how much it costs.” Well, to be quite frank – We don’t want to be like most of our friends and family; in debt, stressed out, unhealthy and not spending their free time doing the things they actually enjoy. I can’t blame them because that is how we spent most of the past decade too. That was how we lived until we decided we wanted something different. That is where the 28 Day Whole Life Wellness Challenge comes in.

There has to be a better way

We decided there had to be something better because we had spent years just “getting through” each day. As a family we decided that this was not the life that we had imagined when we said “I do” on that 108 degree day in July ten years ago. We knew we had to flip the script, so we started by looking at our lives and examining what was most important. When we really broke things down to the basics we realized that it all came down to  wellness in four key categories; FAMILY, FITNESS, FINANCE, and FOOD.

If you have visited our site  you have probably noticed that these are the four categories that we write about. We did this on purpose because these are really the four pillars that make up this crazy process we call life – at least modern life.

When you are able to make progress and create balance in these 4 areas your overall sense of wellness is improved.

Your relationships are healthy, your body is strong, your finances are in order and your body is fueled by food that tastes great and nourishes your body. All of these steps directly impact your overall wellness-mentally, physically, emotionally and financially.

To be honest we have been working on this for about 4 years and we are still working on improving these areas every day. However, we don’t want you to have to wait 4 years to kick-start your own journey to become Simply-Well-Balanced. That is why we created the 28 Day Whole-Life Wellness Challenge.

For this challenge we have created a custom printable calendar which will walk you through 28 days of activities. Each week will have a different focus….you guessed it…they are Family, Fitness, Finance and Food! The 28 activities are all things that we have discovered along our journey. They have had a huge impact on our over-all quality of life. We want to share these strategies with you so that you can implement them and quickly begin to see and feel the difference in your life.

Here is what is included in the 28 Day Wellness Challenge:

Week 1 is all about FAMILY. Big or small, traditional or modern, a family is defined by relationships and unconditional support. Each day we will give you an idea for an activity that is focused on developing communication and strengthening the bonds between the people whom you are closest to.

Week 2 is FITNESS focused. There is a very popular saying that goes “Without your health, you have nothing”.   Fitness is really about health and it is essential to regulate mental, physical and emotional wellness. Taking care of our bodies is our key to a long and joy filled life so each day we will give you a step to take toward a new fitness goal of your choosing. These steps will kick-start healthy habits which can last a lifetime.

Week 3 is when we take a look at FINANCE. For some of you this could be your “come to Jesus” moment because so many people struggle with this area. We were there a few years ago too, which is why the tips included in this week show you how we got started and ended up paying off almost $50,000 worth of debt. No matter your income (or debt) these strategies will get you started on a path to financial freedom.

Week 4 is FOOD week! One of our mantras is that “food should be enjoyed AND nourish our bodies”. This week is not about dieting – it is about making smart choices, balance, and simplifying. This week we are all about helping you create healthy habits – not more restrictions. Doesn’t that sound great!?!?
